Overweight Outdoorsman – Name Change Coming?

Overweight Outdoorsman – Name Change Coming?

Another little update on my status as an Overweight Outdoorsman.  Not sure how long I should be referring to myself with that name.  I weighed myself this morning and I am down to 235 pounds.

My target weight for my height (pushing six foot 2 inches) and bone structure, from what I have been told, is 233 pounds… which seems still high to me.  Back in my Merchant Marine days I recall weighing in at 200 pounds, but I was leaner and had more muscle back them.

Overweight Outdoorsman – Not Doing So Good!

Overweight Outdoorsman – Not Doing So Good!

No, I have not given up or started eating lots of pizza, lasagna, and sucking down 2-3 Coca-Colas a day like I used to.  I have actually been on a stricter diet than I have ever been before and not having any issues sticking to it.

However, despite feeling good and having more energy, I seem to have plateaued on my Keto Diet.  Every Friday since I went on the Keto diet I have weighed myself.  The past couple weeks I have not lost any weight!  I have been hovering around 244 pounds.

Overweight Outdoorsman – Keto!

Overweight Outdoorsman – Keto!

As I recall writing in my last Overweight Outdoorsman post over a month ago, I had been pretty much maintaining my weight around 260 lbs since about June 2018.  I had been doing a Paleo type diet before that and went from 325 lbs+ down to 260 lbs.  This past summer and into winter I pretty much stayed in that weight range, but added in some other foods not on the Paleo diet.  All was okay as I did not gain weight back.

Overweight Outdoorsman – Goals!

Overweight Outdoorsman – Goals!

I’ve been laying a little low the past couple weeks.  While I have managed to get out in a the woods a little, I have not been out hiking or even hunting.  This time last year I had harvested a nice healthy deer and was spending time at my cabin.

Sadly I suffer from a nasty condition called Diverticulitis.  My colon hates me.  Click on that link several words back to learn more.  In a nutshell it can be a painful condition that flares up once in a while.  The experts believe certain foods trigger it, and everybody can have their own triggers.  It can be treated with strong antibiotics most of the time and going on a soft food and liquid diet for a couple days.

Overweight Outdoorsman & Site Update

Overweight Outdoorsman & Site Update

Wow, I have been so busy this October it’s almost laughable.  In fact it all started getting crazy busy around mid September, and it does not appear that things will lighten up for me anytime soon.

I have not been posting here on this site as much as I would like to, and should be doing.  In fact, I have a handful of posts I started and have yet to finish on a variety of subjects; canoe tripping, my last BWCA trip, my future canoe tripping trips, small game hunting, bow hunting, camping, day hiking…etc…  You get the idea.

Overweight Outdoorsman – Fighting The URGE

Overweight Outdoorsman – Fighting The URGE

It has been a long time, at least a month or two, since I last felt the urge to splurge on food.  Yesterday, for whatever reason, I wanted to stuff pizza and lasagna into my mouth.  My body was craving heavy carbs I guess.

I fought the urge and ate about two cups of popcorn as a treat.  I mentioned in an earlier post I love popcorn and still eat it once a week or more often if I go to the movies.
